QUICK COPPER/METALLIC TEXT

A simple texturized copper or gold metallic text effect using
DigiRave Raspberry Texture and VideoRave Wonderland

Step 1

Open a new image.   Here I have used 500*200, with a white background.

Step 2

Make a text entry, using a bold-style font.  Benguiat 44pt was used here.

Step 3

Apply Harry's Raspberry Texture filter to the text without moving the sliders.  (The same texture effect can be achieved in other ways, but using the filter means a single mouse click.)

Step 4

Brighten the image by 20%, and increase the contrast by 35%.

Step 5

Make sure foreground colour is set to white and, without deselecting the text, apply 2 coats of hot wax.  Brighten by about 25% and increase contrast 50%.

Step 6

Colorize the text, using a number in the 27-33 range.  Here I have used 27, saturation 255.

VARIATIONS ON A THEME

Try using the various layer blend modes for some effective variations to the above image.

Start by copying your text to the clipboard, then adjust the background layer's brightness and contrast by 35% and 70%.  Paste the text as a new layer.  (If not already aligned, align on top of the background text layer.)  You will be working on Layer 2.

The following effects were all achieved using the "difference" mode.

1) Example 1 : difference mode chosen; merge layers; brighten/contrast increased 5% each; unsharp mask applied

2) Example 2 : Apply white hot wax (image/other/hot wax; foreground colour white) to the Example 1; adjust brightness only +5%

3) Example 3 : Undo to Example 1 stage; increase brightness 25%, contrast 50%; apply white hot wax; increase brightness by 25 and 50% again.

The same initial stages of this method are used to create
Raspberry Ripple Text
